About Adopt-a-VA

Adopt-a-VA is a community-based initiative where houses of worship, businesses and organizations (who are called adopters) partner with their local VA facility to serve the needs of local Veterans.

It provides adopters who want to do more than say "thanks for your service" the channel to use their own professional experience, expertise and resources to respond to the needs of local Veterans in a wide variety of fields: providing donations, employment opportunities, recreation, arts, community service and a host of other areas which collectively make up the communities in which we live.

Any house of worship, business or organization that wants to help our nation’s Veterans can participate in the Adopt-a-VA.

Examples of those who can adopt include:

  • Rotary or Lions Clubs
  • VFW or American Legion Posts
  • Houses of worship of any denomination
  • Boy or Girl Scout troops or councils
  • Colleges and Universities
  • Elementary or high schools
  • Businesses and Individuals
  • Civics groups

Adopt-a-VA is a growing program and relies on community partners to be successful. Join now to adopt your local VA facility. Partner with them to help Veterans in your community.

ADOPT-a-VA

"It's not that I don't want to help our Veterans; I just don't know how."

Adopt-a-VA addresses the above statement with an easy to implement program in which any house of worship, business or organization can participate.

VA medical facilities are not only tasked to provide healthcare to our nation's Veterans but they are also required to perform other services such as working with homeless Veterans, Veterans at risk of becoming homeless and Veterans who are exiting homelessness. The needs of these Veterans are not always funded by Congress.

Working in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Military Outreach USA developed Adopt-a-VA to encourage local houses of worship, businesses and organizations to partner with their local VA facility to serve the needs of local Veterans.

Donations of clothing, shelter, furniture, beds, basic household essentials and and more can only be provided by houses of worship and organizations in the local community!

Adopt-a-VA brings together community houses of worship, businesses and organizations with their adopted VA facility to help meet the unmet needs of those who have served us. It gives all in the community the opportunity to no longer say,

"We don't know how to help."
